How does it dry?

Diatomite is a soft stone formed from fossilised algae, full of microscopic pores. Water spreads into the stone and evaporates from it, so the surface turns dry again quickly instead of staying damp like a cloth.

How do I clean it?

Wipe it with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Don't soak it or use detergent, and let it air in a dry place now and then.

It has started to absorb slowly. What do I do?

Rub the surface lightly with fine sandpaper to reopen the pores.
