Those little squares of mango wood put the fibre ends at the surface. Your knife meets a more forgiving cutting board.

Our mango board
Fibre ends face the blade.
The edge meets the ends of upright fibres.
The fibres flex around the blade.
They part to make room for the edge.
Fibres settle back together.
A more forgiving surface, gentler on your knife.
A gentler landing for your blade. The fibres give way around the edge and settle back after the cut, helping reduce visible marks and wear on the knife.
Illustration of fibre behaviour. Natural wood will still show cutting marks with use.

What it is made of
End-grain mango, set by hand.
Small pieces of mango hardwood, each standing on end, so the cutting surface is the end of the grain - the chequered pattern you see.
01End-grain mango hardwood
The exposed ends of the fibres face up. They act like shock absorbers under the blade, so the board shows fewer scratches.
02Seasoned, never raw
The wood is seasoned before it is worked, which keeps the board stable and durable.
03Food-grade mineral oil and natural beeswax
Rubbed into the surface by hand: no lacquer, varnish, colour or polish.
04Handcrafted in Rajasthan, India
Every board is cut, assembled and finished by hand.
05Sourcing and assembly
Sustainably sourced mango hardwood, assembled with strong food-grade bonded joints for a durable board.

Care
Looking after it.
Seasoned hardwood, finished with food-grade mineral oil and beeswax, and handcrafted in Rajasthan. No lacquer or varnish.
Small pieces of mango hardwood are set with their fibre ends facing upwards. A knife can pass between those fibres, which separate and settle back, helping reduce visible cut marks and wear on the edge. Normal use will still leave marks.
What is it finished with?
Food-grade mineral oil and natural beeswax, applied by hand. There is no lacquer, varnish, colour or polish on the surface.
How do I look after the wood?
Wipe it with a damp cloth or wash it with mild soap, never soak it, and dry it straight away. When it looks pale and dry, rub in a little food-grade mineral oil.
Is it dishwasher-safe?
No. Soaking and the dishwasher cause warping and cracks. Wash it with mild soap and warm water, then dry it straight away with a towel.
Which oil should I use?
Food-grade mineral oil or beeswax; coconut oil can also be used. Spread it evenly, let it soak in overnight, then wipe off the excess.
