What it is made of

Made from sand.

Conventional non-stick gets its slip from fluoropolymers. Ceramic starts somewhere else entirely.

01Sol-gel ceramic coating

A silica sol-gel, derived from sand and cured onto the pan as a glass-hard surface. There is no fluoropolymer in it to break down at the temperatures an Indian kitchen runs at.

024mm thick body

Thick right through, not just at the base.

03Heat-safe antibacterial hardwood

A natural hardwood grip, securely riveted to the pan. Antibacterial and made to stay comfortable during everyday hob cooking.

04Food-grade silicone-rimmed glass lid

A glass lid with a food-grade silicone rim lets you keep an eye on cooking.

Care

Looking after it.

A silica surface derived from sand. It asks for gentle heat, soft tools and a brush of oil, and gives back an effortless release.

The full care guide
  • Wash, rinse and dry.

Wash in warm, soapy water, rinse and dry.

  • Low to medium heat releases best.

Ceramic releases best at low to medium heat. A high flame is rarely needed and shortens the coating's life.

  • Not a pour. A little oil conditions the surface.

Not a pour. A little oil conditions the surface as much as it cooks the food.

  • Wood, silicone or nylon.

Use wood, silicone or nylon. Metal can leave grey marks; if it does, a powder cleaner takes them off.

  • Non-abrasive sponge, towel-dry. No dishwasher.

Soak stubborn food in hot soapy water, then use a non-abrasive sponge. Rinse and towel-dry. Ceramic isn't for the dishwasher.

  • Don't nest it against metal.

Don't nest ceramic against metal. For everyday dust, wipe with a dry cloth.

Avoid

  • Heating the pan empty
  • Metal utensils, knives or scissors.
  • Steel wool, abrasives, bleach or ammonia
  • The dishwasher

Questions

Before you buy

All questions
Is ceramic non-stick safe?

Yes. The Ceramico coating is a sand-derived silica ceramic with no PTFE, PFAS, PFOA or heavy metals, so there's no fluoropolymer to break down or give off fumes.

Can I use metal utensils?

No. A metal edge will score ceramic, so use wood, silicone or nylon. If metal does leave grey marks, a powder cleaner takes them off.

Does it work on induction?

Yes. Ceramico works on gas and induction.

Is it dishwasher-safe?

No. Wash it by hand in warm, soapy water with a non-abrasive sponge, then rinse and towel-dry. Soak stubborn food in hot soapy water first.

Why does it need so little oil?

The surface is extremely smooth at a microscopic level, so there is very little for food to key into. A brush of oil is enough, not a pour.

How long does the coating last?

Cooked at medium heat with soft tools, the release holds for years. It is a coating, so it does wear: high heat and metal are what shorten its life.

How long is the warranty?

One year against manufacturing defects. It doesn't cover incorrect or professional use, knocks and drops, or stains, discolouration and scratches from normal wear. The warranty card in the box has the details for your piece.
